Energy UK comments on Ofgem's CERT and CESP announcement
Following Ofgem's announcement on energy efficiency schemes; Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) and Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP), Angela Knight CBE, Chief Executive of Energy UK, said:
"Ninety-nine percent of their insulation targets have been achieved by energy companies making millions of homes up and down the country warmer and more energy efficient. The tremendously hard work involved in the CERT and CESP programme means customers have saved hundreds of pounds off their energy bills. We look forward to having a constructive dialogue with Government and Ofgem on what worked well and what could be improved so that future programmes are properly planned and considered before they are brought in. Binding obligations must also be fair to all companies to allow them to deliver benefits to consumers in the most cost effective manner possible.
Energy UK is currently taking a road show round the country to raise awareness of Green Deal and ECO, and to promote partnerships between local government and the energy companies so that as many homes as possible get insulated under the new rules".
