Energy UK comments on National Grid's Winter Outlook Report

National Grid has published its Winter Outlook Report. In response, Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK said:

"National Grid’s Winter Outlook Report shows electricity capacity margins are tighter than last year mostly due to coal-fired power stations closing as result of government policy and regulation. National Grid has measures in place to increase the reserve available this winter. Electricity generators have been preparing for the coming winter to ensure power supplies are available to meet customers’ demand despite the challenging economic environment. Until replacement capacity is available, any further steps that would reduce electricity generation should be carefully considered.”
