Energy UK's statement on credit and debit
Following uSwitch's news release on the amount of money suppliers owe to customers following this year’s mild winter, Energy UK issued a statement.
Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK, said:
“Direct debit is a convenient way to budget energy payments. Suppliers aim to make direct debit as accurate as possible, so it is very important to make sure customers provide a meter read regularly, at least once a quarter. If people are in credit at the end of their plan they can get a refund automatically or use the credit to meet their future usage. Energy suppliers understand individual circumstances can change. If customers are struggling, they should alert their energy provider immediately to discuss their current situation and make sure they are on the best tariff.”
