Energy UK comment on credit balances
Following Ofgem's press release about credit balances. Energy UK issued the following statement.
Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK said:
"Over recent years, energy suppliers have made great efforts so that customers are refunded for any outstanding credit balances, as quickly and efficiently as possible.
"Returning credit to a customer who has moved supplier and address, is not always straightforward, but it is the right thing to do. The industry is pleased with the progress it has made to deliver good levels of service to customers, including after they switch to another supplier.
"Some people may still have credit with a former supplier. If you think you have left money with an old supplier, you should contact them straightaway.
"Switching has been made quicker and easier through the energy switch guarantee. The commitments on credit balances should give even greater confidence to customers that they can switch safely, securely and without risk."
