Information for customers

Find your energy supplier

In the UK, you can choose which company supplies your electricity and which company supplies your gas. These can be different companies or the same company can supply both (known as a dual fuel contract) often with a discount. Your supplier will be named on the energy bills you receive but if you’re not sure you can use the links below to find out.

Finding your electricity supplier

If you’re not sure who your electricity supplier is your Distribution Network Operator (DNO) should be able to tell you. They will also give you your Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN) – which tells your electricity supplier where your meter is and your electricity supply number.

If you’re not sure who your DNO is, you can find out by using your postcode on the Energy Networks Association’s tool first, then contact them to find out your electricity supplier.

Finding your gas supplier

To find out who your gas supplier is, you need to contact the Meter Point Administration Service. You’ll need your postcode, which you can either enter online using their Find My Supplier search tool or let them know over the phone by calling 0870 608 1524. (Calls to this number are charged at 7p per minute, plus your phone company’s access charge.)

They can also give you your Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) – which tells your gas supplier where your meter is and your gas supply number.
