The UK Government’s Energy White Paper was published in December 2020 and 2021 is already being billed as the first year to deliver substantial progress against its objectives.

On Thursday 28 January Energy UK will be hosting a panel of experts to discuss the paper – and what it means for the industry, customers and the environment. We will discuss what ways the paper is a cornerstone providing a predictable and stable policy framework that gives confidence to investors, setting the foundations for the next decade of energy policy to support the delivery of net zero by 2050.

This breakfast briefing will explore the White Paper’s contents to understand from a whole industry perspective what the paper means for the future of energy policy and the essential role that the UK energy industry will play both in delivering on its objectives but also help enable other sectors to deliver net zero. Where are the opportunities - but also the remaining gaps in policy and regulation - for the industry in terms of job growth and developing new innovative services, whilst as the same time playing a significant part in building back better from the COVID-19 pandemic.

With so many consultations and policy papers expected in 2021 and 2022 we will also explore what areas we can expect further policy clarification on and what that might mean for the industry and customers.
