Transforming Talk into Action: Delivery in the whole system value from Flexible Services in association with CGI
Date: Thursday 5 September 2019
Location: Energy UK Offices, 26 Finsbury Square (1st Floor), London EC2A 1DS
In 2018, BEIS and Ofgem published an update to their smart systems and flexibility plan, with the purpose of identifying progress made towards implementing a smart flexible energy system, as well as establishing the Energy Data Taskforce and additional actions to continue to remove barriers. In CGI’s 2018 survey of attitudes to flexibility, the sector identified the lack of a commercial or market framework and the associated inability to stack value as the biggest barriers to the transition to a smart flexible energy system, leaving the question of what can be done to overcome those barriers.
In this year’s CGI and Energy UK flexibility breakfast briefing, we will focus on what action is needed to enable the GB market to move beyond a rhetoric about smart flexible energy systems and into realisation of that vision. Under the context of the Energy White Paper, the recommendations of the Energy Data Taskforce, and a continuing overhaul of GB markets and network charging arrangements, our panel will discuss the hurdles that remain for the UK flexibility market to flourish and what more needs to be done to achieve that end.
