Energy UK is the trade association for the energy industry with over 100 members spanning every aspect of the energy sector – from established FTSE 100 companies right through to new, growing suppliers and generators, which now make up over half of our membership.

We represent the diverse nature of the UK’s energy industry with our members delivering nearly 80% of the UK’s power generation and over 95% of the energy supply for the 28 million UK homes as well as many businesses.

The energy industry invests £13bn annually, delivers nearly £30bn in gross value added on top of the nearly £100bn in economic activity through its supply chain and interaction with other sectors, and supports over 700,000 jobs in every corner of the country.

We have been accredited the Investors in People Standard, highlighting our committment to our workforce. Investors in People is the standard for people management. The standard defines what it takes to lead, support and manage people for sustained success.  Find out more at Investors in People website

What we do

We provide a source of expert advice on industry matters and work to enhance the industry's reputation with customers and with the communities it serves.

Our activities

Energy UK provides a forum for its members to discuss relevant energy and related issues, and to engage on their behalf  with a range of interested parties and individuals across the UK and EU including government’s, regulators, and consumer and environmental organisations to further energy regulation and policy. That could mean raising issues directly with the UK Government, hosting meetings with the industry regulator, Ofgem or engaging with the Scottish and Welsh Governments.

We also regularly engage with the European Union institutions on behalf of market participants in Internal Energy Market, and Irish Single Energy Market in Northern Ireland. With consumer advice devolved to the Scottish Government and the Welsh Government having devolved powers over certain generation capacity we work with both Governments to engage on our members interests.
