The voice of the energy industry

2021 Preview

Join Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, Chris Stark and Laura Sandys for Energy UK's '2021 Preview'

**Free event**

Date: Thursday 10 December 2020
Time: 13:00 - 14:30

As 2020 draws to a close, we invite you to join Energy UK’s chief executive Emma Pinchbeck and senior industry figures to look ahead to 2021.
This event, which replaces the Energy UK Annual Lunch, will feature keynote addresses from leading industry figures including the energy minister, Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, who will be able to discuss the Government’s priorities and provide the very latest on the Energy White Paper.
As we review what has been an unprecedented year for the industry and country at large, keynote speakers will discuss the trends and milestones that lie ahead in 2021 – a year when the UK will leave the European Union and the Green Recovery and Net Zero are set to remain high on the political agenda ahead of the UK hosting the international COP26 summit.
Our “2021 Preview” will also feature a live keynote address from the Climate Change Committee’s chief executive, Chris Stark, the day after the publication of the Sixth Carbon Budget, which will critically set out the path to meeting the UK’s Net Zero target.

We will also hear from leading industry expert Laura Sandys of Challenging Ideas,  who will share insights from her new report “ReCosting Energy” which aims to rethink what we cost, what we value and how we serve customers to unlock the full potential of a net-zero future energy system. Laura will also share her views and predictions on the key issues, and the wider political and regulatory environment, facing the energy sector in 2021.
And following their ever-popular sessions at our annual conference, we will also be joined by representatives of the Young Energy Professionals (YEP) Forum and hear from the recent YEP Award winners on their views of what 2021 holds in store for the energy sector and the opportunities that lie ahead.
