Energy UK comments on The Energy & Utilities Skills Partnership 2020-2025 Workforce Renewal & Skills Strategy

The Energy & Utilities Skills Partnership has today launched the 2020-2025 Workforce Renewal & Skills Strategy. This collaboration outlines how the sector will tackle the skills shortage and fill 277,000 vacancies.

Commenting on the launch of the strategy, Energy UK's Interim Chief Executive, Audrey Gallacher, said.

“The energy and utilities sector has experienced a period of unprecedented change where the operating environment has been transformed and the skills challenges have evolved - so we welcome this latest strategy. There are opportunities for our industry to build on the progress already made and help drive the UK’s economic recovery, delivering the skills and the jobs we need for the energy and utilities sector of the future - and to help reach the net zero target.

“Greater levels of retraining and reskilling will be essential to deliver vital work in infrastructure, decarbonisation, digitisation and ensure future workforce resilience. By embedding inclusion into our working practices and inspiring the next generation to pursue careers in our sector we can attract a more diverse talent pool to meet the challenges ahead. The energy sector is fully committed to playing its part in delivering this essential strategy”
