Electricity switching remains strong in 2014

In the first six months of this year around 1.5 million switches have taken place, roughly 600,000 of those were switches to small suppliers.

The total number of switches has remained high at over 200,000 each month. On average, the monthly switching figures have been higher in the first half of the year than they were in the first half of 2013.

Angela Knight, chief executive of Energy UK, said:

“It is good to see customers are continuing to take advantage of the choices available to them. 1.5 million total switches in the last six months is an enormous number. There is a lot of choice out there and customers can save money by switching so it’s heartening to see that consumers are grabbing these opportunities.”
