Energy UK's statement on the CSR
Following the Chancellor's Comprehensive Spending Review and Autumn Statement Energy UK issued a statement.
Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK, said:
“The UK’s energy sector has been calling for long-term policy certainty to encourage the scale of investment required to meet the country’s energy needs. Today’s statements from the Chancellor, along with Amber Rudd’s announcement on the future direction for energy generation, helps provide a step in that direction but more detail is required to show how the aims will be supported. But there remains a big gap between the situation now and what the country needs to achieve in its energy policy. A lot of work remains to be done to map a realistic course that maintains secure energy supply to homes and businesses while meeting our international climate responsibilities and, crucially, ensuring energy remains affordable for everyone.”
