Energy UK's comment on uSwitch survey about energy bills
Following the publication of uSwitch's survey on energy bills, Energy UK issued a statement.
Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK said:
"Energy companies are continuing to bring their prices down offering cheaper tariffs every week. Since January 2014 the cheapest tariffs have fallen by around £200. There are now over 50 deals under £1,000 compared to only a handful at the same time last year being offered by 31 suppliers operating in the market.
“Wholesale prices make up less than 50 per cent of the average bill and the other parts of the bill fall outside of suppliers’ control, so there will always be a difference between wholesale price falls and what customers actually pay.
“Suppliers are also making it quicker and easier for customers to find the tariff right for them. And it is great news to see customers really taking advantage of all the good deals out there with 390,767 switching supplier in November and 3.5 million switching overall this year.
