Energy UK's statement on prepayment meters
Following Dawn Butler's MP prepayment meter campaign, Energy UK issued a statement.
Lawrence Slade, chief executive, said:
“The energy industry is committed to delivering fair and competitive services and tariffs to all its customers. Prepayment meters can help customers manage their budget where paying on a monthly or quarterly basis is not suitable for them. It costs energy suppliers more to serve prepayment meter customers as the infrastructure costs more to run. Suppliers are constantly reviewing their tariffs. We urge customers to shop around for the deal that suits them best.”
“If a customer is worried about budgeting or the build-up of debt they should get in touch with their supplier or call the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99.”
