Energy UK's comment on DECC's Capacity Market proposals
Following the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) proposals on Capacity Market, Energy UK issued a statement.
Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK, said:
“With the phasing out of coal, the Capacity Market is the right mechanism to bring forward new investment to ensure customers have electricity any time they need it. Government’s proposed reforms including the increase in capacity, the tighter delivery incentives and bringing forward the first Capacity Market delivery are the right steps to guarantee future energy security based on new flexible capacity. Long term policy on charging arrangements and air pollution limits will increase the competitiveness of the market.”
