Energy UK comment on policy costs

Following the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee appearance by Lawrence Slade and Audrey Gallacher. Energy UK has issued a statement.

Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK said:

"We welcome greater transparency over the cost elements of a bill. Our analysis of publicly available data shows that certain costs, outside of suppliers' control, have been increasing and are set to increase in the coming years. How suppliers deal with rising costs is an issue for the individual company and their pricing strategy."

Breakdown of policy costs for a typical domestic dual fuel bill

Energy UK analysis is based on the the latest publicly available data for the typical domestic dual fuel customer.
These programmes help to ensure security of supply (the Capacity Market), deliver lower carbon electricity (Contracts for Difference, Feed-in Tariffs, and the Renewables Obligation) and energy efficient homes (Energy Company Obligation, elements of the smart meter programme) and provide direct financial support to the fuel poor (Warm Home Discount) that are levied onto customer bills. These policies can also help households save money (several £100s in some cases) on their energy bills.
