Energy UK comments on Government publishing air quality plan
Following the announcement by DEFRA of a new air quality plan published for consultation. Energy UK issued a statement.
Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK said:
“While today’s plans show some progress towards cleaner transport, with clean air zones and the rollout of charging and fuelling facilities for Ultra-low Emission Vehicles, there is more to be done. Energy UK’s Electric Vehicle Working Group is working across the industry to ensure a holistic approach when transitioning to a low carbon economy in the UK.
“Additionally, we continue to engage fully with the Government’s proposals for regulating emissions from generators - without additional controls there is a concern of a potential for an increase in emissions from diesel generators, therefore the opportunity for Defra to legislate in this area is an important step forward.”
