Energy UK comments on energy sector contribution to tackling air pollution

Commenting on the contribution the energy sector has made to tackling air pollution, Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK, said:

“The energy sector has made huge progress in tackling air pollution by reducing harmful emissions produced from the burning of fossil fuels. In addition, the contribution of low carbon generation has reached record levels in the UK with 2017 having been the greenest year yet. The future lies with a cleaner generation mix and we support the Clean Growth Strategy and the ambition to go further and faster in the transition to a world-leading clean, green economy which includes revolutionising other sectors like transport which contribute to poor air quality.”
