Energy UK calls for energy and climate change to be included in the Brexit Political Declaration
Energy UK and a wide range of signatories sent a letter today to the Secretary of State for Exiting the EU, Dominic Raab and the European Chief Negotiator, Michel Barnier calling for energy and climate change to be included in the Brexit Political Declaration. Following the publication of the letter, Energy UK issued the below statement:
Lawrence Slade, chief executive of Energy UK, said:
“Our letter, signed by a wide range of signatories, including our European counterparts, highlights how critical it is for energy and climate change to be included in the Brexit Political Declaration.
“There is long history of European collaboration on energy issues which has improved security of supply, reduced costs and helped us achieve our climate change targets.
“It is vital that energy be part of the UK’s future relationship with the EU in order to continue to drive progress towards cost-effective decarbonisation through low carbon investment and deliver the best outcome for UK and EU energy customers.”
