Energy UK comments on Brexit delay
Following EU's response to PM's delay request, Energy UK's chief executive Lawrence Slade said:
“Energy UK and its members continue to strongly believe that a deal with a transition period, allowing for the current trading relationship to continue, remains the best outcome for the energy industry and its customers - as well as for the country as a whole.
“We see the EU's response to the Prime Minister’s request to delay the UK’s departure date as an opportunity to achieve and ratify the deal between the EU and the UK.
“Without agreement on the terms of the UK’s departure, there is a continued uncertainty for our sector over a possible no-deal Brexit - which will have significant and negative consequences for the energy industry and could impact customers’ bills.”
