Energy UK comments on Government response to the CCC's 2019 Annual Progress Reports
Further to the Government response to the Committee on Climate Change’s Progress Reports which was published this afternoon, Lawrence Slade, chief executive at Energy UK. He said:
“The Government’s announcement today on new energy efficiency measures for businesses and the new Transport Decarbonisation Plan are positive steps forward. While the new energy efficiency measures for businesses are welcome, it is disappointing that there is still not more for UK homes. The net-zero target is a game-changer and we need to go further and faster by making energy efficiency a national infrastructure priority if we are to seriously meet our target by 2050 and tackle climate change.
“Our sector has been world leading in reducing the UK’s emissions while delivering benefits for the economy, the environment and customers. And we stand ready to work in partnership with Government to deliver our shared ambition and achieve our target.”
