Energy UK responds to the 2021 Autumn Budget and Spending Review
Responding to the 2021 Autumn Budget and Spending Review, Energy UK’s chief executive, Emma Pinchbeck said:
"There are a number of welcome announcements in today's Budget such as the proposed business rates exemption for renewables and storage technologies, the freeze on Carbon Price Support rates, confirmation of funding announced in last week’s Net Zero Strategy for offshore wind, announcements on new nuclear, and a new remit for the National Infrastructure Commission."
"Today Energy UK today announced the energy sector's commitment to develop a net zero power system in the 2030s - we are ready and excited to help deliver the Net Zero target. We want to see the home of the last industrial revolution, the UK, being the place that creates green jobs, builds new industries, and improves the way we live."
“In the context of the energy transition, the Budget didn’t do enough, in particularly missing the opportunity to invest in energy efficiency funding. With industry moving quickly to deliver Net Zero, the Treasury needs to match the ambitions set out by the Government.”
