Energy UK responds to the EV Infrastructure Strategy
Responding to the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy, Energy UK's Senior Policy Executive (New Energy Services and Heat), Yumann Siddiq said:
"Accessible and affordable charging infrastructure is vital to a smooth transition to electric vehicles, especially in this new phase of uptake where Government and industry must deliver positive customer experiences to enable and encourage rapid mass market uptake."
"The EV Infrastructure Strategy sets out measures focusing on off-street charging, funding for local authorities, ease of access to charging, and increasing the pace of delivery to bring ensure that the UK’s public charging network is ready to meet rising consumer demand and expectations. We broadly welcome the publication, and hope that this is followed by proactive activity to implement rollout at pace."
"An increasingly competitive market for public charging is already delivering improvements to customer experience, but this additional direction and support from government will help the sector to converge around common standards that ensure everyone in the UK can choose how and when they make the switch to electric. Government must now work closely with the sector to ensure the UK retains its position as an innovation hub for EV charging, attracting private investment to reduce costs for consumers."
