Energy UK comments on Ofgem’s Microbusiness Strategic Review final proposals

Commenting on Ofgem’s Microbusiness Strategic Review final proposals, our Deputy Director (Retail), Dan Alchin, said:

“Microbusiness customers who use brokers to take care of their energy needs should be confident in the protection that they receive.

“We’re pleased to see that Ofgem has listened to industry and decided that an independent body, such as the regulator itself, would be much better placed to regulate brokers – rather than suppliers themselves, as had initially been proposed.

“We now hope the Government will push ahead with its Energy White Paper commitment to explore the direct regulation of third parties, such as energy brokers, across the whole of the sector – so there are consistent and robust protections in place for all consumers.”
