During this time of uncertainty Energy UK is supporting the broad range of the UK energy industry by making sure that businesses and other organisations have the most up to date information from the government on the COVID-19 outbreak. Whether that is signposting financial support being offered by the HM Treasury or updating our website with the latest information on how businesses should be responding following the Government’s daily updates.
Energy UK is working with member and non-members to understand the impact of COVID-19 across the sector and feeding concerns and issues directly into the centre of the UK Government, including having regular calls with the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the Minister for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, as well as talking daily with BEIS and HM Treasury officials. We’re raising a range of issues from financial support needed for both household and non-household customers in paying their energy bills, from the impact that staff shortages and isolation is having on key workers, and the need for increased testing of critical workers. We’re also raising up issues related to the supply chain, and learning from other countries on how they’re managing similar situations ahead of the UK experiencing them.
As part of this process we have set up a website form for any business or organisation to feed their issues directly into central government. Ensuring your business or organisation is only one step removed from a UK Government Minister. You do not have to be an Energy UK member to feed in your issue. Once it has been inputted it will picked up by our expert policy officials who will be able to analyse it across whole industry data.
We’re also working with the other energy trade associations to ensure their members are able to directly feed in. We are having daily calls with many of these other trade associations, while at the same time feed in cross economy issues to the CBI, also on a daily basis.
If you’d like to get in touch with an issue please complete the web form on this page.
