Energy UK response to 'Feeding Britain' report
In response to the 'Feeding Britain' report by the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Hunger in the United Kingdom, Energy UK said:
“No one should have to worry about putting the heating on and help is available for people on lower incomes to ensure they can keep warm all year round. Eligible energy customers can already get up to £140 to help with the energy bills thanks to the Warm Home Discount. Older customers get up to £300 more thanks to the Winter Fuel Allowance. And, when the weather is very cold, there is an extra £25 a week so people on pensions and benefits can keep the heating on.
“Energy companies are there to help their customers and anyone worried about their bills should pick up the phone and call their supplier. Customers can also call the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 336699 for free, impartial help with energy bills. Companies are continually offering new tariffs and deals so, if a customer thinks they are not on the best deal for them they should call their supplier or log on to a price comparison site. It is easy to switch and customers can save money.”
