The voice of the energy industry

YEP Awards 2018 just around the corner

Another year has flown past and for Energy UK’s Young Energy Professionals (YEP) Forum this means another fantastic opportunity to showcase and celebrate the innovative work of the next generation of energy industry professionals. That’s right, the YEP Awards have returned and are officially bigger than ever.

By now, everyone who’s anyone in energy knows about the YEP Forum and the range of events we host each year offering those new to energy the opportunity to network with each other and build long lasting, professional relationships. For the students who are considering a career in energy, the YEP Forum aims to provide valuable insights into the numerous career paths our industry has to offer.

In this space, the encouragement of ideas and experience sharing can be invaluable and in most cases, is the driving force behind necessary industry change. Energy UK have recognised this value and as part of a new project launching this year, are taking forward innovative ideas of what the future energy system will look like – creating a vision of the type of industry we will see post-Brexit, post Smart Meter roll out in a world where technology and energy collide.

With the first physical trade of energy using blockchain technology taking place this month right here in London, the idea of technology driving change is becoming a reality and we know one thing  for sure – our industry will need new skills and knowledge to ensure we rise to the challenge of delivering a more efficient, clean, customer-focused energy system.

That’s why this year, the YEP Forum have expanded the breadth of YEP Award categories to acknowledge work with a communications focus and low carbon focus, both of which reflect the current and future energy landscape, where we hope and need to see talent flourish.

The YEPs shortlisted at the Awards this year truly reflect the forward thinking, ambition of those who will be the driving force behind some of the biggest changes this industry will see and the YEP Forum is thrilled to support such work and recognise those who have excelled at such an early stage in their energy career.

With just one week to go, we are counting down the days until the event itself and can’t wait to welcome everyone on the night.
