What’s on this week: Parliamentary Return and YEP award applications

This week saw the return of the UK Parliament after summer recess, and whilst summer certainly wasn’t as quiet as many had hoped, it does feel that things are quickly getting back to normal. There continues to be rumours on when the Heat and Building Strategy might be published as well as the Prime Minister possibly reshuffling his Cabinet and Ministers. When ever these events happen, Energy UK will be ready to provide an update on what they mean for the industry and our members.

One event that we can be certain of is this year’s Young Energy Professionals Awards taking place on Friday 5th November. This year’s event will be held on the same day as the COP26 Presidents Youth and Public Empowerment Day. We will aim to reignite young professionals’ passion and recognition through an evening which offers them the opportunity to meet and talk to fellow peers about their achievements in the energy industry. Most of all however, it is an evening for fun with a black-tie event to close what has been a challenging year for so many of us.

With awards from STEM & Innovation for Net Zero to Rising Star and the Diversity & Inclusion Focus, the jam-packed awards ceremony will be an opportunity to recognise the achievements of young professionals right across the energy industry. Click here for the application pack and our full list of awards.

Applications for awards are open until Sunday 19th September – so you’ve still got plenty of time to get your nominations in. Anyone with up to 10 years’ experience in the sector is welcome to apply, including those who are not members of the YEP Forum itself. Candidates can nominate themselves or someone else who they think deserves recognition for their hard work. All applications are judged by an independent industry expert who will also present the award to the night’s winners. This year’s judges include Bieneosa Ebite (Centrica), Kayte O’Neill (National Grid ESO), and Bindi Patel (Vattenfall Heat), among others and a special guest keynote speaker.
