Energy UK response to Planning Reform Working Paper: Development and Nature Recovery

Publications Headers Consultation response2

Energy UK is supportive of the government’s commitment to accelerating the delivery of a strategic approach to nature recovery, as set out in the Planning Reform Working Paper: Development and Nature Recovery. While in theory the proposal is desirable for energy projects, in practice there are further challenges, and the proposals are highly contingent on a variety of factors that have not yet been fully outlined. While recognising that that this is a working paper, Energy UK has provided more detail on these concerns below to guide the development of the Nature Restoration Fund.

Energy UK supports the objectives of the proposals and would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the government in developing targeted initiatives for specific species and areas. However, caution is advised in applying these proposals universally, as these may not be practical in practice
