Reflections on 2025

It’s clear that 2025 was a year of profound change, not just for the energy sector, but for the YEP Forum too. As the industry navigates a pivotal transition, the YEP Forum needed to evolve alongside this, so we spent time refining our operations and ensuring the YEP Forum is structured to meet the needs of an increasingly complex sector.

Despite the internal focus, we never lost sight of our vision to connect and inspire young energy professionals. Whether we were visiting offshore wind farms, exploring the NESO control room, or hosting our annual reception at Parliament, these moments provided our members with a first-hand experience of the energy transition.

I’ve loved every minute of being part of the YEP Forum SteerCo since joining in June 2025! As part of the Communications workstream, I’m incredibly proud of our progress in boosting the Forum’s online profile and showcasing all the great work that the YEP Forum does. Beyond the projects, I’ve also been really grateful for the chance to expand my professional network and gain deeper insights into the energy industry through our thought leadership pieces and (many!) events. I’m excited for everything that lies ahead in 2026 and continuing my YEP Forum journey alongside such a brilliant group of people.

It was a privilege to be invited to the 2025 YEP Forum Parliamentary Reception night. It was great to hear from MPs and sector leaders on the importance of collaboration across the energy industry, as well as the need to inspire the next generation of energy professionals. These events are a brilliant chance to connect with others across industry, while gaining an opportunity to identify synergies and common challenges. The YEP Forum is doing some great work, and I would encourage others to attend future YEP Forum events.

I initially joined the Young Energy Professionals Forum as a member, before becoming an Ambassador, and I was appointed to the Steering Committee in June 2025. My experience with the YEP Forum has been a career highlight – I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work with our members, Ambassadors Network, Steering Committee, Energy UK and NESO as corporate sponsor. My voluntary role has enabled me to expand my network and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders from different organisations in the energy sector – through communications and engagement, organising events, and delivering thought leadership publications. In both a professional and personal capacity, I am so proud of everything we have achieved in 2025 to inspire the next generation of future energy leaders, and I am very excited to see what we do next in 2026!
