Energy UK response to consultation on community benefits and shared ownership

Publications Headers Consultation response2

Executive summary

Energy UK is not opposed to mandatory community benefits, however this is only for certain technologies, and a one-size-fits-all solution across technologies in unlikely to be practical. A set of principles for mandatory community benefits are laid out in the response, including working with the business viability for projects and making the process for mandation as simple as possible. Flexibility and industry engagement is key for success in this area. There are further steps that can be taken on shared ownership, but significant current barriers.
