Guide to Jobs in Energy
Energy UK’s Young Energy Professionals Forum’s Guide to Jobs in Energy showcases some of the different careers across the sector.
It sets out how the energy industry works, where jobs in energy can be found, and who the biggest players in the market are. Case studies are presented by levels of experience – with those entering energy through apprenticeships at the start, followed by those with a few years of experience, those with multiple years of experience, and those who had careers in different industries prior to joining the sector.
It also includes interviews with leading figures about their careers including recommendations for those looking to join the industry.

Apprenticeships
Lots of energy and supply chain companies offer apprenticeships, meaning you can learn while you earn.
There’s a wide range of types of apprenticeship on offer, with many only requiring GGSEs – meaning you can jump into the sector straight from school.
You’ll then split your time between working hands-on in your chosen area, and your local college. Some companies even have their own bespoke training centres. By the time you’ve finished, you’ll have plenty of experience and a solid foundation to progress your career in the industry.
We’ve spoken to apprentices across the energy sector, and they’ve told us the combination of academic study with hands-on experience keeps them challenged and suits their learning style.
