Energy UK comments on Spending Review

In response to the Spending Review, Emma Pinchbeck, Energy UK’s chief executive said:

“It is positive to see that the Chancellor has confirmed, in the Spending Review today, the Government’s ambition and commitment to reaching our Net Zero target, as well as deliver on the PM’s 10 Point Plan with investment in infrastructure and clean energy sources.

“We also welcome the publication of the National Infrastructure Strategy and the refreshed Green Book which will better link the socio–economic benefits of projects and programmes towards net zero, and place a greater emphasis on net zero in some government decision making. This is a step in the right direction, towards a Net Zero Test in all government policies, which we have long been calling for.

“The energy industry is central to powering and delivering the Green Industrial Revolution – creating jobs, economic growth and lasting benefits for communities around the country and for the environment.”
