Responding to the news that the Government will expand the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme, Energy UK’s Chief Executive Dhara Vyas said:
“It’s never been more important for the UK Government to ensure that our economy delivers high growth, with high productivity: and this rests on lowering key input costs that businesses face, including the cost of energy.
“The expansion and backdating of the British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme (BICS) is a step in the right direction for tackling high energy costs, and will provide much needed support for thousands of businesses across the country.
“But securing our international competitiveness requires a robust national strategy to find an enduring solution to lowering energy bills for all businesses. Tackling high energy costs is an economic imperative, and the BICS scheme should mark the beginning – not the end – of a comprehensive approach to bringing down bills across the economy.”
