Energy UK responds to final investment decision on Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm

Responding to the announcement that Ørsted has taken final investment decision on Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm, Energy UK’s chief executive, Emma Pinchbeck, said:

“This is very good news for the UK because Hornsea Three will not only deliver a major boost to our supply of clean domestic power but also bring a host of benefits such as new jobs, opportunities for the supply chain and a lift to the local economy.

“Hornsea Three represents billions of pounds of inward investment in vital energy infrastructure. We have said to Government this year that investment is competitive as more of the world moves to clean energy with ambitious policies to deliver it. It’s been welcome seeing announcements at the autumn statement help investment, a better auction round for offshore wind ahead, and a slew of announcements for energy investment coming out this side of Christmas in everything from hydrogen to carbon pricing. Clearly there is a more still to do – we will continue to work with Government to build a world class industry to be proud of at home in the UK.”
