Responding to the publication of the Smart Systems and Flexibility Plan and Energy Digitalisation Strategy, Energy UK’s chief executive Emma Pinchbeck said:
“We are pleased to see that the Government’s proposals are in line with our suggestions in our ‘Flexibility report’ which was published last year.
“A truly flexible energy system is crucial to ensuring the UK reaches Net Zero. Flexibility is critical to meeting future electricity demand, decarbonising the energy system, and offering new benefits for people, such as energy tariffs that reward them for changing when or how they use energy.
“The digitalisation of the energy system is equally important – and must reflect all these changes and the active role that consumers could have in the future energy system.”
