Responding to the Government’s consultation on regulating third party intermediaries (TPIs), Energy UK’s deputy chief executive, Dhara Vyas, said:
“As providers of an essential service, energy suppliers are highly regulated – much of this in relation to customer protection. So it has always been an anomaly that the same oversight doesn’t apply to TPIs who often have a direct relationship with customers. The industry has long called for closer regulation of TPIs so we welcome the consultation and the move towards ensuring that all customers receive the level of service and high standards which reputable brokers and price comparison websites already provide.”
