Energy UK response to Planning for new energy infrastructure: 2025 revisions to National Policy Statements

Publications Headers Consultation response2

Executive summary

The updated National Policy Statements set out a positive direction for future energy infrastructure in the planning system, aligning with clean power 2030, the SSEP, and routes to speed up consent of major infrastructure. While broadly positive, there are specific areas where Energy UK opposes sections of the NPS, such as potentially disproportionate guidance for some generation, and the need for greater clarification on key definitions (such as the underwater noise rules for offshore wind and the visual impacts mitigation for onshore wind).
