Energy UK’s ‘Understanding the GB Retail Market’ training course, delivered in collaboration with Engage Consulting, provides an overview of how the GB Retail Market works, starting with the key decisions that have shaped the market before diving into the roles and demands of the retail supply license and key considerations of energy pricing, wholesale levies, network charging, and customer debt.
This training course is aimed at:
- Those joining the energy industry as policymakers, regulators, energy suppliers or industry and third sector organisations as an experienced hire
- Those with a good working knowledge in the energy industry who want to further their knowledge of retail energy markets
- People who have already attended Energy UK’s ‘Introduction to GB Energy Markets’ training course
The objectives are for attendees to:
- Understand the domestic and Non-Domestic GB retail environments and the key decisions that have shaped the markets from liberalisation through to today.
- Understand the environment for regulatory, policy and industry code engagement and managing organisational compliance
- Understand the roles and demands of the retail supply license and social obligations. Including the different elements of customer service and support for vulnerable customers such as government schemes and voluntary initiatives.
- Understanding the key considerations and options in energy pricing, including wholesale, levies, network charging and customer debt.
- To engage with the options for future market design including the role of time-of-use tariffs, demand response, and the implications of data sharing, digitalisation and energy flexibility.
