Responding to Ofgem’s announcement of a new support for clean power storage, Energy UK’s chief executive, Dhara Vyas said:
“Long duration storage (LDES) is key to making the most of our abundant and ever-growing sources of renewable power, strengthening our energy security and maximising the potential of a flexible energy system to deliver billions of pounds of savings. The LDES support scheme should give investors the confidence to back long-term projects while also protecting the interests of billpayers. While some forms like pumped storage hydro are well established, we are also seeing exciting and innovative technologies whose potential could be unleashed by this support.”
