Energy UK’s CEO Emma Pinchbeck responds to the Public Accounts Committee’s ‘Green Home Grant Voucher Scheme‘s report, which revealed the scheme “underperformed badly.”
She said: “Making all our homes energy efficient is essential if we are to reach Net Zero. Doing so will deliver widespread benefits – reducing emissions but also cutting bills and improving health for customers, as well boosting our economy through the opportunities it provides for businesses and job creation.
“We need a long-term and properly funded national upgrade programme to meet this challenge, enabling the necessary supply chains to develop and businesses to scale up.
“Unfortunately, the Green Home Grants Scheme failed to deliver on its targets and repeated past mistakes with a stop-start approach and sudden changes that damaged confidence for all those involved. The Government needs to learn the lessons from this report because they have to get this right next time.”
