In response to her appointment to the Governing Board of Eurogas, Audrey Gallacher, Energy UK’s interim chief executive said:
“I am very pleased to be appointed to the board of Eurogas. Our country has a long history of cooperation with the EU on energy issues and we hope this will continue after Brexit.
“Gas is an integral part of the generation mix in the UK and key to maintaining security of supply. As we transition to a low carbon energy system, I believe that gas has a big role to play in this transition, not only as a backup to renewable energy, but also in the form of renewable and decarbonized gases, such as hydrogen.
“I am looking forward to working with other members of the Eurogas Board to ensure our cooperation on gas continues to benefit the economy, the environment and customers in the UK and the EU.”
