Tickets are now on sale for Energy UK’s 2024 Annual Conference, “Energy Matters: Securing Britain’s Future”.
Energy UK is the trade association for the UK energy industry, covering the breadth of the sector including suppliers, generators, aggregators, flexibility providers, electric vehicle charging operators and software companies.
With standing room only in 2023, its flagship industry conference brings together senior leaders, policymakers, and experts from across the energy sector to hear debate and discussion around the most critical issues facing the industry today, and the urgent changes required to deliver a sustainable and secure energy future for Britain.
Confirmed speakers include CEOs of the regulator and members of Energy UK, and the full event programme will be announced in the coming weeks.
Sponsored by ScottishPower, the one-day Conference will take place on Tuesday, 17 September 2024, at One Great George Street, Westminster, SW1P 3AA. Both online and in-person tickets are available, with a discount for Energy UK members, and networking opportunities throughout for those attending on the day. Over 138 companies attended in 2023, with speakers including Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Rt Hon. Claire Coutinho MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Rt Hon. Edward Miliband MP, and the CEOs of Ofgem, National Grid and Nick Winser, the UK’s Electricity Networks Commissioner.
Emma Pinchbeck, Energy UK’s chief executive said:
“The energy sector drives the UK economy – we keep the lights on and help people to stay comfortable in their homes, we invest in energy security and will lead on decarbonising businesses and British industries, we’ll deliver hundreds of thousands of new jobs across the country in the next decade, and put the UK back on track as the best place in the world for research and innovation.
“The last few years have shown how vital the energy industry is. The energy transition in the UK is at a “Sliding Doors” moment; one route leads to global leadership, economic growth, an investment in homegrown, clean secure low carbon energy alongside improved public services, jobs and benefits for people and communities right across the country. The other does not. We’re passed the point of whether we do it or not, the questions now are how fast we can get there and how to make sure it’s fair, and that’s what we’ll be debating in September.”
Energy UK is dedicated to ensuring that all events are inclusive, enhancing the experience for every attendee. To support this commitment, British Sign Language interpreters will be available at Energy UK’s Annual Conference.
Energy and its crucial role in the transition towards a Net Zero economy has played a major part in current election campaigns and Energy UK’s manifesto “Energy Matters: People, Power, Prosperity” is a proposal for partnership between industry and the next Government to unlock investment, transform the economy and deliver change.
Energy UK and its members are committed to working with the next Government to unlock the billions of pounds of extra investment that will be needed to meet the UK’s energy security and Net Zero targets most cost-effectively. Analysis shows that an accelerated transition to Net Zero could boost the economy by £240bn more than current trajectories, equivalent to the economic contribution of the UK’s current manufacturing sector. A quicker transition could also lead to £165bn more coming from the private sector than current policies would enable, freeing up the public purse for other priorities.
