Executive Summary
Energy UK welcomes this consultation and broadly welcomes the increased focus and proposed reforms to infrastructure planning from the Government. These reforms should align critical elements of development with the Government’s and the energy sector’s shared ambitions.
It is critical that the approach taken to infrastructure planning results in a reduction in administrative burden and timelines for all nationally significant infrastructure. To deliver this, the Government must ensure it examines the efficiency of these bodies, establishing well-resourced, effectively staffed planning authorities and statutory bodies.
