Equity, diversity and inclusion
There’s never been a more exciting time to work in the energy industry and there are many different opportunities from technical and engineering roles, to policy roles and positions across legal, finance and communications.
As the sector grows it’s essential we continue to develop our existing energy workforce and attract talent so that the industry has the people it needs to meet the challenges of the future.
Sign up to our EDI mailing list to hear the latest updates, research and events across industry.
TIDE – Tackling Inclusion and Diversity in Energy
Energy UK is a founding member of TIDE – Tackling Inclusion and Diversity in Energy – a cross-industry initiative set up to improve Equity, Diversity and Inclusion across the energy industry.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Conference
The industry’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Conference has grown from an Energy UK initiative, to a flagship conference covering all aspects of the energy sector. With our partners ENA, the Energy Institute, Offshore Energies UK and RenewableUK we bring together senior leaders from across the energy industry to gather insight, share good practice and challenge leaders to improve EDI in energy.
Registration for the 2026 conference will open in April. Last year, the conference sold out in record time. Attendees heard from energy CEOs, were presented the results from two industry-wide data collection initiatives and heard tips for good practice across accessible communications, neuro-inclusive employment, data collection and more.

Pride in Energy
Pride in Energy is the diversity forum and network for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and more (LGBTQIA+) people and their allies working across the UK energy industry. Established in 2017 in response to a need to address inclusion issues, it plays three roles: as a champion, raising the profile of issues affecting LGBTQIA+ people in the sector; as a safe space, connecting LGBTQIA+ people in the sector; and as a critical friend to employers, networks and allies wanting to promote inclusion in the sector.

EDI at Energy UK
In addition to industry-wide initiatives to help improve EDI across industry, we also have our own policies in place regarding representation of diverse speakers at our events, and those we speak at. We practice blind recruitment to ensure we are hiring inclusively, and ensure our team undergo regular unconscious bias training in addition to other related courses that maximise a safe and inclusive working culture.
